About Us

Richard Toothill is an Associate of APS Legal and a qualified Will writer. He is also a member of the Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) and regulated to both their rigorous standards.

After a career as an IT consultant, Richard decided on a change of lifestyle and new challenges and so became a Will writer. Acting as an executor for his late mother’s estate he became interested in the subject and saw the potential to work with people and provide advice and support. He realised the importance of having a comprehensive Last Will and Testament tailored to the needs of the individual but could not understand the high fees and lack of specialised knowledge associated with the high street legal service providers. He saw the benefits that a specialised service could provide and became passionate about offering affordable Will writing services which give everyone the power to protect their loved ones from unnecessary legal problems after their death.

Since then, Richard has helped his clients navigate the Will writing process, advising on everything from basic Wills to inheritance tax. He offers help with Lasting Power of Attorney, Will Trusts and Will storage. He can also help executors navigate the probate process. The post death estate management process requires an understanding of applying for a grant of probate and filing inheritance tax forms with HMRC.

Based between Richmond and Northallerton in North Yorkshire, Richard can travel across Yorkshire and the North East to serve clients. He is flexible to his client’s requirements and can work around their schedule to make the Will writing process painless.

Richard also offers free lunch and learn sessions for local businesses to educate their staff on how best to protect their assets and loved ones in the future.

Away from the office, Richard enjoys long walks in the Yorkshire Dales and spending time with his grandchildren.
